California Extra Virgin Olive Oil

We have been incredibly busy since the beginning of the year and now have some
time to share some news with you.

Our oils are now certified as extra virgin olive oil by the COOC (California
Olive Oil Council).  The COOC is the only North American quality control program that exceeds strict International standards for true Extra Virgin Olive Oil. What it means to the consumers is that you can rest assure that this olive oil genuine and is of the highest quality.

We have won more awards!

We won a Silver medal for Italian Blends – Medium Intensity, to be presented at the August 2012 Yolo County Fair Olive Oil Competition. This year our Italian Blend is herbaceous, has a smooth and beautiful mouth feel with aromas of green tea, notes of olives and nuts.  A medium bite and medium bitterness end in a gentle finish.  Our friends love it.

We have been very busy since January at the farm.  Because of the lack of rain, the rodents were ravenous for water … they found their source inside the tree barks.  As a result we have been busy replacing over 30 trees.  Christophe set up an additional two owl boxes.  We now have 4 owl boxes to attract more owls which helps to control the rodent population.

Then the glorious rain brought the weed seeds into germination.  Weeds compete with the trees for nutrients and water….and have to be removed – a tedious and non-stop work.
